Your Contribution
- Perform product inspection using either a sampling plan or 100% inspection to verify quality characteristics as specified on the drawing, work order, or catalog
- Perform product inspections using various mechanical or digital tools including, but not limited to: Micrometers, calipers, drop gages, height gages, profilometers, CMMs, optical comparators, autocollimators, strain measurement systems, optical or digital microscopes, striae light systems, etc.
- Inspect and identify internal characteristics such as inclusions, cords, striae, stress birefringence, bubbles, crystals, haze, foreign particles, cracks, knots, and other defects
- Determine bubble group/class, striae grade, and stress grade of products
- Identify and segregate defective products for rework or cullet
- Inspect and identify scratches, digs, and inclusions using military and ISO processes, optical or digital microscopes, and other tools as required
- Perform Artful greying of edge chips if necessary
- Compiles production and QA reports and documents
- Understand work orders, customer drawings, GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing), military and ISO standards, and AQL sampling procedures
- Perform cleaning on final polished products using various cleaning supplies and procedures when necessary
- Develop and implement process improvements
- Maintain strict confidentiality of trade secret processes
- Record and generate quality data reports
- Generate computerized labels for in-process or final product
- Confirm time worked, parts scrapped, and parts passing using SAP
- Post final product using SAP
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness within work areas
- Implement and maintain 6S principles within work areas
- Transport process supplies and product
- Pack finished product per JIB, procedure, or supervisor guidance
- Attend Hazardous waste training; follow rules for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), housekeeping, and 6S.
Your Profile
- 1 - 3 years quality experience in a production environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required.

Ability to lift/carry/manipulate weights up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Ability to read and interpret glass drawings, operate lifting devices and retain a forklift (Raymond) certification.

Experience using business systems/MS Office Suite software proficiently/SAP,

Experience using measuring equipment to include microscopes, optical comparator, polarimeter, and various gauges, etc.

This position is covered by a union collective bargaining agreement. Starting rate is $26.33 and includes 6 month progression increases up to 18 months.
