The Enterprise Technology Roadmapping and Portfolio Lead (m/f/d)* is responsible for establishing and leading SCHOTT’s company-wide technology roadmapping capability, ensuring a coherent, forward-looking view of technology, application, and capability development across all business units.
The role integrates technology strategy, market insights, R&D capabilities, and business needs into a single, actionable roadmap framework, enabling informed decisions on portfolio prioritization, investments, and strategic growth areas.
This position acts as a central integrator across R&D, business units, operations, and new ventures, driving transparency, alignment, and long-term competitiveness.

Your Contribution

  • Establish, develop, and lead SCHOTT’s company-wide technology roadmapping framework with a long-term strategic horizon.
  • Develop and maintain integrated technology and application roadmaps across business units, ensuring alignment between market trends, technology platforms, product strategies, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across R&D, Business Units, Operations, and Technology Platforms to identify synergies, leverage core capabilities, and support scalable innovation.
  • Translate technology roadmap priorities into R&D portfolio decisions, strategic investment plans, and capability development initiatives.
  • Provide executive-level analyses and recommendations on future technology opportunities, strategic growth areas, technology partnerships, and capability gaps.
  • Integrate market, customer, application, and competitive intelligence into technology and innovation planning processes.
  • Facilitate alignment among stakeholders and support strategic decision-making across short-term business priorities and long-term technology investments.
  • Establish governance structures, processes, tools, and standards to ensure transparency, consistency, and effectiveness of technology roadmapping and portfolio management.

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in R&D, technology management, technology strategy, innovation, or portfolio management.
  • Proven track record in technology roadmapping and leading cross-functional initiatives in complex organizations.
  • Experience in advanced materials, photonics, semiconductors, or related industries preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate complex technologies into business opportunities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills in matrix organizations.
  • Solid expertise in portfolio management, innovation processes, and executive decision support.
  • Fluent in German and English.
